Plagiarism Policy
Jurnal Triton, published by Politeknik Pembangunan Pertanian Manokwari, is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical scholarly publishing. The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, or any other form of research and publication misconduct.
All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Triton must represent original scholarly work, properly acknowledge the contributions of other researchers, and provide accurate citations and references for all sources used.
Similarity Screening
All submitted manuscripts are subject to similarity screening using recognized plagiarism detection software before proceeding to the peer-review process. The maximum acceptable similarity index is 20%, excluding references, properly quoted material, and other exclusions where supported by the screening software and editorial judgment.
A similarity index exceeding 20% may result in a request for revision, additional editorial assessment, or rejection, depending on the nature and extent of the overlap. Manuscripts with a similarity index of 20% or below are not automatically considered plagiarism-free. The editorial team carefully evaluates the similarity report to identify potential plagiarism, inappropriate paraphrasing, excessive textual overlap, duplicate publication, and other forms of academic misconduct.
The overall similarity score and the sources contributing to the overlap are considered together. Particular attention is given to substantial similarities in the introduction, methodology, results, discussion, conclusions, and other substantive parts of the manuscript.
Artificial Intelligence and AI-Related Plagiarism
Jurnal Triton recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) tools can support certain aspects of academic writing and research. However, their use must not compromise originality, research integrity, transparency, or authors' accountability.
The journal prohibits the use of AI tools to generate or reproduce content that is presented as original human-authored scholarship when doing so misrepresents authorship, conceals the use of source material, or violates the journal's publication ethics requirements. Authors must not use AI tools to fabricate or falsify data, invent references, misrepresent research findings, or reproduce copyrighted or third-party material without appropriate attribution.
Authors are required to disclose the use of generative AI tools when such tools have materially contributed to manuscript preparation, data analysis, interpretation, or other relevant research activities, in accordance with the journal's AI policy. AI systems cannot be listed as authors, and the human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, and integrity of all submitted content.
AI-generated text is assessed according to the same originality, attribution, and ethical standards applied to other manuscript content. Where AI detection tools are available, the editorial team may use them as supplementary screening instruments. AI detection results alone will not be treated as conclusive evidence of misconduct, because such tools may produce false-positive or false-negative results. Editorial decisions will be based on a careful assessment of the available evidence, the manuscript, relevant similarity reports, source attribution, and the authors' explanations where necessary.
The journal's maximum similarity threshold of 20% applies to the overall similarity assessment and does not establish a separate permissible percentage for AI-generated content. Compliance with the similarity threshold does not exempt authors from the journal's requirements concerning AI disclosure, originality, proper attribution, and research integrity.
Editorial Actions and Sanctions
If potential plagiarism or other publication misconduct is identified, Jurnal Triton may take one or more of the following actions, depending on the seriousness of the case:
-
Request clarification or a written explanation from the authors.
-
Require substantial revision and proper attribution of sources.
-
Reject the manuscript if the overlap or misconduct is serious or cannot be satisfactorily resolved.
-
Suspend the editorial process while the matter is investigated.
-
Retract or correct a published article if misconduct is established after publication.
-
Notify the authors' affiliated institutions or other relevant parties when warranted by the evidence and the seriousness of the violation.
All suspected cases will be handled fairly and confidentially, with consideration given to the available evidence, the authors' responses, and applicable publication ethics standards.
Authors' Responsibilities
By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Triton, authors confirm that the work is original, has been appropriately referenced, and does not infringe the intellectual property rights of others. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all borrowed ideas, text, data, figures, tables, and other materials are properly acknowledged and that the manuscript complies with the journal's plagiarism and AI-use policies.
Jurnal Triton reserves the right to screen manuscripts at submission, during peer review, before publication, and after publication whenever necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
Through this policy, Jurnal Triton seeks to promote responsible research practices, safeguard intellectual property, and maintain public trust in the quality and credibility of its publications.
