Jurnal Triton, published by Politeknik Pembangunan Pertanian Manokwari, is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, transparency, and reliability of the scholarly record. The journal recognizes that errors or concerns may occasionally be identified after an article has been published. To address such situations responsibly, Jurnal Triton has established procedures for issuing corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions when warranted by the available evidence.

All post-publication actions are undertaken to ensure that the scientific record remains accurate, transparent, and trustworthy. Decisions are made independently, fairly, and in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and recognized principles of responsible scholarly publishing.

1. Corrections

A correction may be issued when an error is identified in a published article and the error can be rectified without invalidating the principal findings or conclusions of the work.

Corrections may address, but are not limited to:

  • Errors in author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, or funding information.

  • Typographical, formatting, or metadata errors that affect the accuracy or interpretation of the published record.

  • Errors in tables, figures, references, or other published information that require clarification or amendment.

  • Other factual inaccuracies that can be corrected without undermining the overall validity of the research.

Requests for corrections may be submitted by authors, readers, editors, or other concerned parties to the editorial office. The editorial team will assess the request, consult the authors or relevant experts when necessary, and determine the appropriate action.

Approved corrections will be published as a separate, clearly identified notice linked to the original article. The notice will describe the nature of the correction and identify the affected information. The original article will remain accessible, with an appropriate reference to the correction, to preserve transparency and traceability.

2. Retractions

A retraction may be issued when the reliability or integrity of a published article is seriously compromised. Retraction is intended to correct the scholarly record and alert readers that the findings or content of the article should no longer be relied upon in their existing form.

Grounds for retraction may include, but are not limited to:

  • Plagiarism or substantial unattributed reproduction of another work.

  • Fabrication or falsification of research data, images, results, or other research materials.

  • Serious methodological errors or unreliable findings that invalidate the principal conclusions.

  • Duplicate or redundant publication that significantly compromises the originality of the scholarly record.

  • Unethical research practices or violations of applicable research ethics requirements.

  • Material undisclosed conflicts of interest that have significantly affected the validity or interpretation of the research.

  • Other substantiated forms of research or publication misconduct that seriously undermine the integrity of the article.

Retraction will not be used solely to resolve authorship disputes, disagreements over interpretation, or differences of academic opinion when the validity of the research remains intact. Each case will be evaluated individually based on the available evidence.

3. Expression of Concern

When credible concerns arise regarding a published article but the investigation is incomplete or the available evidence is insufficient for an immediate correction or retraction, Jurnal Triton may issue an Expression of Concern.

This notice informs readers that the article is under assessment and that its reliability may require further clarification. The notice will be linked to the original article and updated, where appropriate, when the investigation reaches a conclusion.

4. Investigation and Decision-Making

Any concern regarding a published article may be reported to the Editor-in-Chief or the editorial office. Reports should include the article's title, author information, DOI or URL where available, a clear explanation of the concern, and relevant supporting evidence.

The editorial team will conduct a preliminary assessment and may request explanations, original data, research records, or other relevant documentation from the authors. Independent experts or the authors' affiliated institutions may be consulted when necessary.

Authors will normally be given a reasonable opportunity to respond to the concerns raised. Editors with relevant conflicts of interest will not participate in the decision-making process. The journal will assess each case objectively and determine whether a correction, expression of concern, retraction, or other action is appropriate.

Where a formal institutional investigation is required, Jurnal Triton may refer the matter to the relevant institution or competent authority. The journal may take appropriate interim measures to protect readers and the scholarly record while the investigation is ongoing.

5. Publication and Visibility of Notices

All correction notices, expressions of concern, and retraction notices will be clearly identified and linked to the affected article whenever technically possible. Each notice should provide sufficient information to explain the reason for the action while respecting confidentiality and applicable legal requirements.

A retracted article will not ordinarily be silently removed from the journal's website. The article will remain accessible where legally and technically permissible, clearly marked as retracted, and linked to its retraction notice. Its bibliographic metadata and DOI should be maintained where applicable to preserve citation traceability and the historical scholarly record.

The journal will make reasonable efforts to ensure that relevant publication records, metadata, and indexing information are updated following a correction or retraction.

6. Appeals

Authors may submit a reasoned appeal against a correction or retraction decision by providing relevant evidence and a clear explanation of the grounds for reconsideration. Appeals will be assessed by the Editor-in-Chief or an independent editorial representative who was not materially involved in the original decision, wherever practicable.

An appeal does not automatically suspend an editorial action that is necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record. The journal will communicate its decision after reviewing the available evidence and applicable policies.

7. Commitment to Publication Integrity

Jurnal Triton is committed to handling all post-publication issues fairly, transparently, and consistently. The journal does not regard corrections or retractions as punitive measures in themselves; rather, they are mechanisms for maintaining the accuracy and credibility of scientific communication.

Through this policy, Jurnal Triton seeks to protect readers, uphold research integrity, preserve the scholarly record, and strengthen public trust in scientific publications. This policy applies to all articles published by the journal and is implemented in conjunction with its publication ethics, plagiarism, authorship, conflict of interest, and post-publication discussion policies.
