Abstract

Penyakit Mulut dan Kuku (PMK) merupakan salah satu penyakit hewan menular strategis yang dapat menyebabkan kerugian ekonomi pada usaha peternakan sapi potong. Penerapan biosecurity menjadi faktor penting dalam mencegah masuk dan menyebarnya penyakit di lingkungan peternakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi penerapan biosecurity dan penanganan PMK pada peternakan sapi potong di CV Margo Lembu, Kabupaten Lampung Tengah, Provinsi Lampung. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Desember 2025 hingga Januari 2026 menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi terkait penerapan biosecurity dan kondisi kesehatan ternak. Evaluasi biosecurity dilakukan berdasarkan indikator sanitasi kandang, desinfeksi, karantina ternak baru, sanitasi pekerja, dan pengendalian lalu lintas ternak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan biosecurity di peternakan masih belum optimal. Dari total 400 ekor ternak yang diamati, sebanyak 15 ekor menunjukkan gejala klinis PMK dengan persentase kasus sebesar 3,75% dan mortalitas 0%. Komponen biosecurity yang masih lemah meliputi karantina ternak baru, fasilitas desinfeksi, dan sanitasi pekerja kandang. Upaya penanganan PMK dilakukan melalui isolasi ternak sakit, pemberian obat dan vitamin, vaksinasi PMK, serta peningkatan sanitasi kandang. Oleh karena itu, penguatan biosecurity melalui penerapan karantina ternak baru, desinfeksi rutin, dan pengendalian lalu lintas ternak perlu dilakukan untuk mengurangi risiko penyebaran PMK pada peternakan sapi potong.
