Potensi Pemanfaatan Limbah Perikanan sebagai Bahan Pakan Ternak untuk Mendukung Ekonomi Sirkular
Potential Utilization of Fishery Waste as Livestock Feed to Support the Circular Economy
Abstract
Limbah perikanan merupakan salah satu hasil samping industri pengolahan ikan yang jumlahnya terus meningkat seiring dengan meningkatnya produksi perikanan. Limbah berupa kepala, tulang, kulit, sisik, dan jeroan ikan sering kali belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal sehingga berpotensi menimbulkan pencemaran lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji potensi pengembangan pakan ternak berbasis limbah perikanan dalam mendukung konsep ekonomi sirkular serta menganalisis manfaat ekonomi dan lingkungan dari pemanfaatannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi literatur dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian diperoleh dari berbagai sumber ilmiah berupa jurnal, buku referensi, dan prosiding yang berkaitan dengan pemanfaatan limbah perikanan sebagai bahan pakan ternak. Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk mengkaji potensi, manfaat ekonomi dan lingkungan, serta kendala pengembangan limbah perikanan dalam mendukung ekonomi sirkular. Berbagai hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa limbah perikanan memiliki kandungan protein, mineral, asam amino esensial, dan asam lemak omega-3 yang tinggi sehingga berpotensi diolah menjadi tepung ikan, silase, dan pakan fermentasi. Pemanfaatan limbah perikanan sebagai bahan pakan terbukti mampu meningkatkan kualitas nutrisi pakan, efisiensi pertumbuhan ternak, serta menurunkan biaya produksi pakan. Selain itu, pengolahan limbah perikanan juga memberikan dampak positif terhadap lingkungan melalui pengurangan pencemaran, penurunan volume limbah organik, dan penerapan konsep ekonomi sirkular. Namun, pengembangan pengolahan limbah perikanan masih menghadapi kendala berupa keterbatasan teknologi, rendahnya keterampilan masyarakat, dan minimnya sarana produksi. Dengan demikian, disimpulkan bahwa limbah perikanan berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku pakan ternak yang bernilai ekonomis, ramah lingkungan, serta mendukung penerapan ekonomi sirkular dan sistem produksi yang berkelanjutan.
